Who are we looking for:
We currently have an opportunity in California for a Senior Water Resources Project Manager with interest and experience in the areas of hydrology, supply, and demand forecasting and management, supply vulnerability and risk analyses, water systems modeling, integrated planning, and decision support. Our growing backlog of water resources work creates an opportunity to be involved in a variety of projects that contribute to the development of solutions addressing key water resource issues. Experience providing technical leadership on similar projects in California or the western United States is a requirement.

Travel: Minimal travel as necessary for client meetings, conferences, etc.
What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran :
Technical Projects Responsibilities:
- Manages complex engineering, planning, or scientific work for clients
- Performs technical tasks of significant difficulty and complexity, working on challenging of projects
- Oversees the overall quality of project deliverables
- Prepares and delivers presentations to internal and/or external clients
- Leverages expertise in water resources planning that will improve the efficiency and quality of project delivery
Project Management Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic leadership internally to complete projects with diverse project teams
- Lead project teams to provide successful projects that meet client needs
- Manages the financial and technical delivery of projects or tasks within the agreed-upon scope, schedule, and budget
- Manage QA/QC functions to ensure accuracy and adequacy of work products
- Be the primary point of contact on projects
- Supports the recruitment, staff development, and retention
Client Visibility Responsibilities:
- Participates in local, regional, and/or national water resources-related professional groups
- Disseminates project information to team and client via informational emails and other appropriate channels.
- Works with Water Resources Practice Leader to develop key approaches and lead/participate in key initiatives
Business Development/Marketing Responsibilities:
- Fosters and maintains one-on-one relationships with key external clients
- Provides significant skills leading to a competitive advantage for Woodard & Curran
- Develops, reviews, and/or evaluates proposals for water resources practice
- Participates in interviews for new projects
Continuous Learning Responsibilities:
- Engages in staff development and mentoring
- Provides feedback/guidance on staff development if requested
- Identifies technical gaps in our staff and assists in filling those gaps through both proactive recruiting and internal staff development
- Provides mentoring in area(s) of expertise to staff
Supervision Responsibilities:
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the project work of technical staff and works to meet completion date.
- Leads discipline coordination on large, complex water resources projects
- Provides technical QC on some or all project elements
- Provides overall project QA if requested
What will you need to succeed?
- Minimum of 15 years of professional work experience managing water resources projects or equivalent demonstrated competency.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: program and project concept development, working with municipal water clients, hydrology, supply, and demand forecasting and management, supply vulnerability and risk analyses, water systems modeling, groundwater, integrated planning, and decision support
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, and strong organization skills
- Superior writing, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Ability to interface with co-workers, project staff, various clients, and government agencies
- Demonstrated skills and abilities required to partner with a project team to deliver a large, complex water resources project
$135,000 - $205,000 a year
This role has the option for remote work, and the anticipated pay range is flexible, depending on factors such as the employee's primary work location, skills, experience, and education. The following examples illustrate how the pay range for the same role can vary based on different locations.
Chico, CA: $135,000 - $165,000
San Diego, CA: $145,000 - $181,000
San Francisco, CA: $168,000 - $205,000
This position’s anticipated pay range is provided above; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.
